Collaborative project of the waste management association Bergischer Abfallwirtschaftsverband with the University of Applied Sciences Cologne

On 1 July 1989, the Abfallverwertungsgesellschaft des Landkreises Ludwigsburg mbH (AVL) was founded as a 100% subsidiary of the district. The district entrusted AVL with the tasks of avoiding, recycling and disposing of waste.

In the Böblingen district, waste management tasks have been transferred to the Waste Management Company (AWB) in the organisational form of an independent company.

The Waste Management Company (AWM) is the municipal waste disposal company of the city of Munich. AWM stands for reliable and environmentally high-quality waste disposal services for Munich households and businesses at stable and fair fees. They work on the basis of an ecological waste management concept that was adopted by the Munich City Council in 1988/89 and updated in 2017.

Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft Nordfriesland mbH (AWNF) was founded on October 1st, 1995 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the district of Nordfriesland. AWNF employs five people. AWNF is responsible for the district's waste management concept and the entire waste management organisation, for which otherwise the district is responsible according to the Law on Life-Cycle Management. The district of Nordfriesland continues to be responsible for waste disposal and is therefore in charge of establishing the waste management concept and enacting the waste- and fee statutes.
